"Clair de Lune" when translated from its original French means "Light of the Moon". The late French composer Claude Debussy created a magnificent piano piece, Clair de Lune. It has a beautiful timeless and enduring quality and consequently was the source of inspiration for naming our vineyard and wines. Clair de Lune's goal is to create wines of great finesse and elegance that will be enjoyed and celebrated by the wine and food fraternity thereby promoting our future. What's Happening at Clair deLuneThe current 2010 harvested fruit is now in the barrel, with most fermentations complete. The Merlot and the Triolet are still undergoing malolactic fermentation and are being regularly monitored for this process. A limited number of the fabulous Sauvignon Blanc 2010 bottles were made available for the Loch Wine and Food Festival. They sold like hotcakes! I am inspired to bottle the remainder as soon as finances permit so that they will be available for my loyal customers. The base wines for a sparkling chardonnay and a sparkling pinot noir have been made for some time and are now being introduced to the secondary Tirage fermentation. Unfortunately, the sparkling pinot hasn't gone as planned. A stuck secondary ferment has complicated things for the time being. However, help is on the way and I will endeavour to re-ferment the pinot shortly. In the meantime, the sparkling chardonnay appears to be developing as planned in the bottle. Cheers!
